Background of the Study
Maternal healthcare is a critical component of healthcare systems, and access to quality maternal care is considered a fundamental human right. In many rural areas of Nigeria, including Funtua, Katsina State, maternal healthcare remains inadequate, contributing to high maternal mortality rates. This study will evaluate maternal healthcare services in Funtua, examining whether they meet international human rights standards and the extent to which these services are accessible to pregnant women.
Statement of the Problem
Despite the recognition of maternal healthcare as a fundamental human right, many women in Funtua still face barriers in accessing quality maternal services. These barriers include inadequate healthcare infrastructure, lack of skilled personnel, and cultural or financial constraints. This study seeks to evaluate the provision of maternal healthcare in Funtua and the challenges faced by women in accessing these services.
Objectives of the Study
To assess the quality of maternal healthcare services in Funtua, Katsina State.
To evaluate the accessibility of maternal healthcare services to women in Funtua.
To explore the barriers to accessing maternal healthcare and recommend improvements.
Research Questions
